Sept.06 Cox Peninsular N.T.
Cox Peninsular - Northern Territories
Flying Thai from Songkhla, via Bangkok, Brisbane and Virgin Blue to Darwin with a few day's on the Gold Coast we landed ontime in Darwin at 0125hrs. 20 minutes later by Taxi to the storage location and all was in good order, after 3 months, we crashed for a few hours. Then too excited to sleep got orgainsed. Connected the vehicle batteries, filled up with water and we were off to explore Cox Peninsular

Our 1st camp on the Finnis River - Hardgrave Road boat ramp, a magic quiet spot and no one there, just as well as it's a very small camp site.

This is as close as we could get to the water without the "Croc's" being a potential problem.

Early morning mist and mirror ____

conditions on the water, who needs to catch fish with conditions like these!!

A couple of the locals.

No fish in the river still to much water it seems, so moved 4ks to Rosco's place near the Milne Road boat ramp. Rosco helped us out with a battery terminal as one had corroded the Solar Panel Controller power supply. Checked the local Pub - Palm Sands they had nothing so the Bar Hostess checked with some of the locals and Rosco had an old Datsun Ute we took a battery termimal from - it's still in place and working.

Installing some Marine Carpet, boy it's sure made a difference when fly fishing and things drop on the deck, plus it's cooler.

My 1st Finger Mark on FLY, he took it like a freight train.

Relaxing in Camp at McKensie Point, much closer to the action and Knife Island in the middle of Byone Harbour

Our million dollar views, all to our selves

A change from fish - roast chook!!

Look closely for the Dingo

Good action on the fly rod

Yep, out in the middle of no-where on Knife Island, suspect it was left behind during high tide 7 plus meters and they could not find it.

A relaxing camp spot, but the mozzies, march & sand flies were a continual problem

Loading the tinnie onto the trailer, a must have when touring

Sue's exotic fish - a "Blubber Lips", boy did he fight, and good eating in a Tom Yum Soup - that's a hot Thai Soup!!

Sue's Queenfish - I caught nothing that day, but enjoyed the action

Our last night at McKensie Point the sand flies were giving Sue heaps along with the March Flies - off to Two Mile Hole Kakadu NP

Two Mile Hole - Another magic camp spot with no one in sight

An Archer Fish the bain of Barra fisher's, they get the fly before the Barra has a chance. We were only catching Saratoga's, good fun on fly, but smelt like dead "Cockies" much to Sue's disgust

In action amongst the trees

As pleasant as the camp site was it was time to head south to cooler climes, thus packed up the fishing gear until we hit the beach at the Head of the Bight.
Yalata and the Guese camp area NEXT!.
